Reti TEN-T
Reti TEN-T
The TEN-T Network favors the integration of European countries in view of a single market and supports a policy for the decarbonisation of transport and an active role of the EU in the global fight against climate change.
The EU Regulation 1315/2013 which defined the trans-European transport network TEN-T, provides for the creation of a network articulated on two levels for the development of the international network:
1- the Comprehensive Network, that is a global network of a lower strategic level, is made up of all those existing and planned transport infrastructures aimed at achieving the objectives of territorial cohesion and integrates and interconnects the Core network. It will need to be completed and made fully interoperable by 2050.
It consists of: road, rail, port, airport and intermodal centers.
2- the Core Network is the strategic part of the Comprehensive network. That is a core network at EU level. The task of connecting the 27 EU countries is entrusted. The nodes of the Core Network have been defined according to a transparent and public method that takes into account objective territorial, demographic and transport criteria.
It will need to be completed and made fully interoperable by 2030.
The port of Civitavecchia is joining the Trans-European Transport Network, or Ten-T, the European Union's integrated system for the transport of goods and passengers. This was announced by the EU Commissioner for Transport, Adina Valean, during a press conference at which the green mobility package was presented and a revision of the Ten-T was announced.
The good news is that this inclusion allows the port to be considered a core port of call, i.e. one of the main nodes on the North-South axis for the transfer of goods and people between EU countries.
